What you need to do if you drop your Cell phone in Water?

Cell phone Under water
Usually in summer when you often go to beaches or lakes by mistake you may drop your cell phone in water or by mistake it may get wet. So, just as at the time of accident we need a first aid treatment so that we can stop the further damage our cell phones need the same, before we can send them to mobile phone hospital to get them repaired.

First of all we need to see that where and in which type of water we have dropped the phone. If its Ocean water or a pool water than its an issue of great concern, because ocean water contains salt and pool water contains chlorine, and both of them are highly corrosive. Because of this corrosive tendency, it may quickly destroy your phone's electronic components and can cause irreparable damage if not treated quickly.

So here I pen down some first aid treatment steps for your cell phone with the help of which you can stop the further damage of your phone and sometimes can even make it work.

Here it goes:

  1. First of all take your phone out of the water.
  2. Immediately remove the battery as battery is usually the source of damage, not just the water alone. Water+Battery = Short Circuits.
  3. Then take out your sim card and wipe it with tissue so that you can atleast safeguard your important contacts and details stored in your sim.
  4. After taking out battery and sim card clean your phone with a tissue or an absorbing cloth and keep the phone under a bulb providing it heat to get dry. Please dont put the phone inside microwave or don’t use hairdryer as it may lead to further damage and problems .
  5. After around 6-8 hours when you cant see the water on the upper body of the phone start dismantling the phone with the help of Torx T6 screwdriver.
  6. As you disassemble or the parts of your phone again keep them under 40/60w desk lamp allowing them to get dry.
  7. After around 24 hours when you feel that now its totally dry and no moisture is being found anywhere on the parts start reassembling the phone.
  8. Now your phone has taken a bath so it must be looking brand new again.
  9. Insert the battery and sim-card in to your fully dry phone.
  10. Now Pray for a minute and then switch on the phone.
  11. If it works then just scream HURRAYYY!!! And thank me for my tips.
  12. And in some cases if it still doesn’t works then please don’t blame me (hard luck). Then you need to put your phone in a Zip lock bag and ship it to a cell phone water damage repair specialist immediately.
