Airtel to introduce 8Mbps broadband in India.

Airtel is going to be the first service provider in India to offer 8mbps of broadband experience. It’s surely going to make a difference in the internet world of India as till the date the speeds on offer range from 256 Kbps to 4 Mbps only. So now airtel broadband users would be able to browse multiple windows at the same time- downloading heavy files, view streaming video, enjoy online gaming, chat, email etc. And the most of all, Airtel’s Broadband Service is also going IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) ready.

According to airtel 8 Mbps broadband service will initially be available in Bangalore, Chennai, Pune, Kolkata, Delhi and the NCR, with a subsequent rollout in Mumbai and Hyderabad, in a few weeks.
Tariff plans are not yet decided but roughly it would be costing you between Rs. 2000 – 10000 depending upon your bandwith requirement.

Last year BSNL similarly introduced 2mbps broadband but the problem with it was that it didn’t lift bandwith caps and not providing unlimited access. So now we hope that Airtel would surely come up with an unlimited access plan for evolved user, So that we can enjoy 8mbps connection to its fullest.

Just for an instance, Airtel 8mbps broadband connection user will no longer have to wait for a video to get buffered while watching streaming videos. They would be able to download a 5 MB music file in 5 seconds flat as compared to 160 seconds on a 256 kbps connection.
